Everyone loves a good hack and me, well I especially love hacks when it comes to my travel. So here are 8 cruising hacks for you to use on your next cruise! >>

Increase Your Outlets

Depending on what type of room you get, you may only have 1 outlet in your stateroom (not including the one in your bathroom) - YES, I said ONE! How can we survive?! Well friends, bring along one of these little power strips and you will be good to go for your electronics.

Looking for another USB port? Check the side of the TV in your room, it should have what you're looking for!

Collapsible Closet Organizer

Depending on how you pack, you may need to grab one of these to help with your closet space. It can really come in handy to help keep your room neat and tidy. It can easily get messy in a tight space, so why not use something that can help you make things easier.

Magnets!

When it comes to utilizing the space in your stateroom, magnets can be your best friend! Your door is made of metal - perfect for a command center. Things such as metal hooks to hang your lanyards, a dry erase board so you can keep notes of whatever you may need... for example if there are certain things on your daily itinerary that you want to go to. Write it down as a reminder or maybe even for your kids to reference in case they are looking for you. They'll know where to find you in this case! You can also hang up maps, as well as any other essential items.

Personalize Your Door

This is something I would typically suggest for your kids. All of the doors usually look the same on cruise ships and if you do not remember your room number, how will you know which room is yours? Carnival actually used to have the room printed on their sign & sail card, but they stopped doing that so just in case you lose the card, no one can find it and break into your room - Genius! Simply decorate the outside of your door with items that are not flammable. Again, magnets are a great idea, or a poster that is approved per your cruise line's list of prohibited items. Although this is ideal for kids, ladies... It can also be for your husbands. If your husbands are anything like mine... you'll need this. Johnny struggled just about every time. He could not for the life of him, remember our room number! Amazing.

Night Light

Oh yes! This can be a big help because if you've ever cruised before, you know that it can get pretty dark in the room once it is time to sleep. If you're someone who gets up regularly in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, I suggest plugging up a light in there so you can find your way easily. FOR MY COMPLETE DARKNESS LOVERS: If you are not worried about navigating your way to the bathroom, be sure to throw a towel or something similar at the bottom of your stateroom door when it is time to sleep. A little bit of light does creep in from the hallway and I am a huge total-darkness-sleeper! The slightest amount of light just cannot be shining. This will make it perfect.

Avoid ATM Fees

You won't be using cash onboard unless of course you are playing in the casino. Either way you can also use your sign & sail account. But if you're finding that you need some cash while you're in port and you forgot to bring some with you (or you didn't bring enough) then skip the ATM and head to the casino. Place your room key in a slot machine and deposit the amount you want to withdraw. Once the money is loaded into the machine, just hit 'cash out' and take your ticket to the cashier. Your onboard account will be charged and you won't have to pay any ATM or credit card fees.

Bring a Reusable Water Bottle

Sure, you can just use the water they provide in the room (for an extra fee) and you can also order for a case to be delivered, but why not avoid the extra costs and pack a reusable water bottle? We grabbed some of the ones pictured above from Walmart. They were perfect because we could fill them up before we got off the ship and they stayed cold all day long and you don't have to worry about them sweating and getting everything else wet. Also, this is perfect for if you like to have water in your room before you go to bed. We loved using this on our last cruise!

Pack a Highlighter

Just in case you don't want to bring the dry erase board (from a few topics above) - Then pack a highlighter so you can highlight the things you want to do on your daily itinerary. Even if you do use the dry erase board, you can always highlight everything you're interested in and as you narrow down what all you want to definitely go to, you can write those things down.

Well that is it for now! I have tons of other great hacks, but how to fit them all into one post?! When you book your next cruise with me, you'll get a full, complimentary list of what all you should bring and what to know before you go. OR you can always stay tuned for more fun hacks in future posts!

Happy Travels :)
